Hey! My name is Audrey, I’m the editor of sports and opinion for YOUvA Today and from time to time I like to write as well. On top of that, I'm the head of socials! I studied communication science and am now studying journalism. I’m broadly interested in all things journalism, but as of right now I'm working in sports journalism. As one would expect from a student living in Amsterdam (and of someone with a decent set of brains) I support Ajax. I also play football myself (kind of like David Neres, but a lot worse). Together with Arthur and Babette I’ve been there since the start of YOUvA Today and I can’t wait to keep improving our newspaper. Stay tuned, I promise there’s a lot more coming!
About us
Welcome to our website!
We are YOUvA Today, the student newspaper of the UvA. By students, for students. Here you’ll read about all things related to you as an UvA-student: our cultural hub CREA, our USC sport facilities, student politics, interviews with UvA-Alumni and much more! Our goal is to publish honest and critical news. The UvA has many different buildings and faculties, we want to highlight what makes us a community. Our team consists of enthusiastic students who are completely new to the field and more experienced journalists. Everything is made by students, except for the website and the graphic design. We thank the lovely team of Mark It Zero for this, who remain students at heart. This is the right place to get your daily dose of student news!

The founders

Babette Stolk (She/Her)
My name is Babette and I'm the editor in chief as well as the editor of politics and arts. Apart from being clumsy and a bit old-fashioned (I'm often referred to as a grandma), I'm very interested in politics, journalism and literature. It should come as no surprise that I study English literature and Political Science, but trust me, I'm capable of talking about other things as well. If you are into passionate debates, tea or books, let's make sure to have a chat (or very intense conversation, if that is something you fancy). Look out for the girl in a dress, dropping a mug while passionately talking, that is probably me.

Arthur Vacca
Hi there! I'm Arthur, a fourth-year Political science student, and aspiring journalist. As editor of the Alumni & Today sections of our UvA newspaper, I'm always on top of student-related news. Besides this, I'm a fervent lover of science fiction movies, documentaries about those movies, and typical Dutch songs called ‘meezingers’ (my music taste has often been described as primitive, but I remain a proud Gerard Joling fan). With this newspaper, I hope to bring the different faculties of the UvA closer together and create a community feeling severely absent at this moment. If you are aware of something interesting that happened on campus, or would just like a friendly chat, do not hesitate and hit me up!
Authors

Maria Wojewoda (She/Her)
Hi everyone! My name is Maria and I'm a first-year Political Science student. You can find my articles (not surprisingly) in the politics section. I love reading, exploring new places and obviously, writing. "I write entirely to find out what I'm thinking, what I'm looking at, what I see and what it means”- those words from my all-time favourite writer Joan Didion perfectly explain why I have decided to gain experience in writing. I am super excited to have joined YOUvA and I hope you will enjoy reading our pieces!

Isaac Domínguez Bosch
My name is Isaac and I'm a first-year Communication Science student. I was raised in a tiny town in the middle of the mountains for my whole life , so living in Amsterdam is very exciting! In the future I would like to be a sports reporter. I'm very excited to collaborate and learn from fellow students in the YOUvA team. I'm passionate about all sports, but mostly watch tennis and football. Life is uncertain, but the only thing I know for sure is that Barça is the best team in the world. Força Barça!

Mara Georgescu (She/Her)
Hello there! I’m Mara, a first-year Literary and Cultural Analysis student, and first-time writer. You can find my articles in the Arts section sharing my entirely unbiased and completely objective opinions. I’m excited to have an extra excuse to go to any and all on-campus and off-campus shows, art installations, exhibitions, or whatever else might be interesting to look at from an artistic perspective. Like most of the staff here at YOUvA, I have many opinions I’m always ready to share and debate at a moment’s notice, so if you agree or disagree with anything I write I’m always up to have a coffee -or a beer- and a chat.
Photographers

Lara Strauch
Hi! My name is Lara. I study Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam. I'm born and raised in Germany and left in order to experience a diversity of people and cultures. All my life, I've loved to take photos, which lead me to join the YOUvA-Team as a photographer. Besides my love for photography, I enjoy doing sports and I like exploring my new home turf, Amsterdam. One of my biggest passions is art. Visiting theatres, watching movies, reading a book, going to exhibitions and many more are a big part of my deal free time. In order to have a full-Dutch experience, I am trying to learn Dutch…let’s see how it will go. Doei, doei allemaal!

Chiara Goldenstern (She/Her)
Hi, my name is Chiara! I'm a first year Communication Science student and a photographer for YOUvA Today. I was born in Germany, but lived in the United States for most of my life. I love taking photos as it captures the world in such a beautiful way. When I don't have a camera in my hand, I'm most likely travelling, reading or trying to find my way around Amsterdam (I am notoriously bad at navigation, ask any of my friends). I have an unhealthy obsession with playing Wordle every morning, and I own two dogs!

Lea Borsboom (She/Her)
Hi there! My name is Lea, and I'm a photographer at YOUvA Today. I study Communication Science. Ever since I got my camera, I have developed a love for taking pictures of sports, nature, and people or things that inspire me. Besides my passion for photography, I enjoy socializing with friends, going to festivals, and walking my Australian shepherds. I also have an affinity for extreme sports such as horse-back riding and surfing. If you want to exchange ideas or photos, please feel free to reach out to me!
