Feija Beersma studies Future Planet Studies and Art History, but next to two bachelors, she also loves to paint. From pop art to butts, Beersma does it all!
‘I need to save the world,’ says Beersma when we ask her why she studies Future Planet studies. Before that she went to an art academy. ‘I didn’t like it all that much, because they give you a really strong direction in what you are allowed to make,’ Beersma explains. While art academy was not her cup of tea, she still loves to paint. ‘I used to be a fan of modern art, but because of art history, I am starting to like baroque, especially Bernini, he is one of my favourite artists.’ Modern art still shines through her work. For example, a jacket she made was ‘very inspired by pop art, so Roy Liechtenstein was a big inspiration for that.’ One thing is very clear: Beersma likes painting butts.

While she is not entirely sure why, Beersma explains that she also really likes nude photography. ‘Not pornographically, but in a way that you almost see everything, but not everything is revealed (…) an aesthetic way.’ These photo’s certainly are an inspiration, but she also has ‘gotten a lot of requests by people that want [her] to paint their butt,’ Beersma tells us. She has yet to paint them though: ‘I haven’t painted anyone’s butt, only my own, because nowadays it is a bit complicated with pictures and privacy, (…) but I would love to do that on the side.’
Beersma does not want to become a full-time artists, but she is ‘planning to do something with the ‘butt-art.’ Before she starts anything she needs a more concrete plan, but she would love to ‘make prints and sell them, and if people want customized versions they can send a message.’Sadly, we will have to wait a bit longer, before we can get a customized version of our butt!
