While the UvA is certainly no stranger to creativity, it might surprise you to discover that one of the newest art installations on campus was recently set up at Science Park. “The Noise Gap”, a sound art installation that aims to highlight the issue of gender discrimination in academia will be set up until the 14th of April for anyone who would like to visit. On the 5th of April, we attended the opening ceremony for the project to find out more about this unconventional and extremely relevant piece of art.

Behind the scenes of ‘Come from Away’
What does it take to create an award-winning musical, and what does it take to stage that musical in an entirely new language with an entirely new vision? These were the questions that the creators and crew of “Come from Away” attempted to answer during a two-part talk hosted by the UvA’s musical theatre chair at the DeLaMar theatre the afternoon before the very first performance took place on the 25th of March.

What is student life without at least one obligatory improv show? While Amsterdam seems to be full to bursting with any number of comedy nights, stand-up shows, and cabarets, international students might have some issues trying to satisfy this unwritten collegial requirement. Luckily, however, for those of us who haven’t mastered the Dutch language yet, CREA cafe will be hosting English improv comedy shows every Friday until the end of April. The question is: are they worth it? These are my impressions after attending the 18th of March Level 1 class showcase.
